On September 8 with help from the Whatcom Community Foundation we gave away $39,000 to our local community!

1st for $10,000: Lydia Place to "educate families and fostering community through life skills programs"
2nd for $6,000: St. Francis Foundation for their intergenerational garden project
3rd for $4,000: Summit Assistance Dogs for their new S.O.S program (Serving Our Soldiers) which will provide service dogs to wounded soldiers
4th for $2,000: Bellingham Public Library to transform their early learning and literacy space at the Library
Our planning committee from Walton Beverage and the Whatcom Community Foundation were so inspired by all 36 applications we received that we came up with $17,000 of additional grant money to create the Local Pepsi Refresh Standout Awards designed to help fund the applications that we felt really stood out!
We gave: $1,500 to the Michael Koenen Foundation to "save local youth sports programs!"
$1,500 to the Whatcom Volunteer Center to help start their "Pantry on Wheels Program--getting food to homebound people in need!"
$1,500 to The Bellingham Food Bank feeding your neighbors project to help them buy 100,000 pounds of food!
$500 to META Performing Arts to help with their "Babes in Toyland, a Christmas musical fantasy extravaganza production"
$1,000 to the Burlington Edison School District to "keep students in school—decrease truancy, drop-outs, drug dependency, gang involvement and violence”
$2,100 to the Royal Family Kids Camp to provide support for local foster kids ages 7-11 who have a history of abuse and/or neglect in their lives to attend a week long, overnight camp
$1,500 to the Blaine Football Booster Club to help fund the Blaine Boys and Girls Club and Middle School football teams
$1,000 to WeSNIP, Whatcom Education Spay & Neuter Impact Program to help make spay and neuter services available to everyone!
$1,000 to the Crisis Pregnancy Center of Skagit County "to see the lives of those touched by an unplanned pregnancy be saved and transformed!"
$1,500 to the Whatcom County Council on Aging to help fund their fresh produce for the Meals on Wheels program
$500 to the Bridgeway Christian Academy to help fund their "Whatcom Independent Schools' Hands-On (WISH) Learning Project: Non-Profit schools share creative learning tools"
$2,000 to the Mount Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross to help fund their "catastrophic shelter plan-preparing today to save lives tomorrow"
$500 to the Sergey Foundation to help them "offer emergency vet grants to low income people with companion animals in an attempt to keep them in the home"
$900 to Kulshan Community Land Trust to help them buy their 100th home!
